General Chat / Re: PSDH and HoT?
« on: September 16, 2015, 12:30:40 PM »
If there are any new maps in HoT like Dry Top/Silverwastes it would be nice if we did guild runs for them, and if there is a world boss(es) like Teq/TT I'm sure we'll be adding it to our schedule to try to beat it :)

About asking for financial/crafting/material help, it'll probably stay the same as it is now. Members are free to donate gold, materials, etc., if they want to.

About the guild hall, although it would be nice to organise which member is part of which guilds, and which guilds are taking which guild hall, so that players can have access to both. I think we should just make a poll and vote on it.

I'd really like us to do raids as a guild especially if meta builds aren't forced, but I guess it depends on the difficulty of the raids. Even if we escape the current meta builds, from what has been said about raids, players might need to be spec'd in specific ways to overcome a challenge, and that means new meta builds for raids incoming :P

Hello and welcome to PSDH :)

My memory is also bad when it comes to remembering which world bosses I've done. I actually have a spreadsheet with the names of the world bosses and my characters for me to mark them off ;D

General Chat / Re: How to behave towards other players in a game
« on: July 23, 2015, 02:58:02 AM »
All the points have already been covered by Dark and Storm but since I took the time to write this I thought I might as well post it.

Hi VikingGurl, if you ever read this then sorry that you had a bad experience with PSDH.

If you haven't completely deleted the video, it would be useful if you could somehow share it with us or privately upload it if you're worried others will see you running with us. This way we can see who said/did what, so we can talk to the offending player(s).

Now to clarify a few points:

About the way we 'all "claim" a map'
When we 'claim' a map, it's not to say this map now belongs to PSDH so non-PSDH members should gtfo. Maybe 'claiming' isn't the right word but the sentiment is merely to avoid us clashing with another community/guild already organising or going to organise the Teq/Wurm in the same map, and if that isn't the case, it announces to the map that PSDH will be organise Teq/Wurm and that other players are welcome to join us.

About getting 'everyone on ts'
We do fail the Wurm on occasions and we usually fail because of 2 reasons - people not doing what they need to do or people knowing what they need to do but messing up. We can't do anything about human error/people messing up, but we can explain to everyone what they need to do, and to do that, we need everyone listening on teamspeak.
Even for players who have 'done the event many times' they should still be on teamspeak. Why? Well, just yesterday for example, Crimson commander said they lacked damage, so Amber commander asked for some players to move to Crimson. If no one was on teamspeak because they 'don't need to hear a person tell' them 'what to do', Crimson might not have got the additional players they needed to decap their wurm.

Summed up, Teamspeak is the most important aspect to defeating the Wurms, this is why we repeat it over and over and over again. Unlike other guilds/communities who can max out more than one teamspeak channel through reputation alone, a lot of the time we need to repeatedly ask people to join our teamspeak just to get 90+ players (30 per wurm) out of the maximum 150.

Finally, about 'telling other players to leave the map'
Although we try our best to emphasise that these are requests and not demands, I think it can't be avoided that asking other players to leave a map can seem rude, especially if the players were on the map before us (be it maize farming or going for map completion). We can't force players to leave the map, if they are happy to leave then brilliant, but if they don't want to leave there's not much we can really do - they are free to carry on with what they're doing and we will continue organising the Wurm.

It's a shame that you couldn't have contacted a commander directly with these concerns, hopefully you return and we can have some form of discussion and you could show us the video.

I'm happy that you enjoy running with PSDH, and I'm extra happy because you sent Shalashia a Quaggan tonic :)

PSDH is all a front for a secret organisation of Quaggans. The Quaggan Tonics don't turn us into Quaggans, they remove our Human/Asura/Norn/Charr/Sylvari disguises and reveal our true forms. There is no escape, you are one of us now.

On a cheerier note, happy to have you with us. ;D

PS: I still haven't written an introduction.

I also joined GW2 early-ish, took a break and ended up missing half of LS Season 1 so I sort of know that feel :(

But anyway, welcome to PSDH and I hope you enjoy your stay with us :)

Just to let everyone know, currently World Bosses have the ability to crash the server and mass dc players. They are even more powerful now than ever before.

And it's been fixed. :)

Triple Trouble Wurm / Re: Re evaluating sub teams, tactics, foods etc

About Eggblockers
I personally find the Elementalist easier to learn and diboof with compared to the Guardian.
The animation lag (similar to skill lag) is either an issue with Anet's server or a game issue (nothing we can really do).
I think Eggblockers should stay together. Now a plan could be to have both Eggblockers soloing so they are essentially always backing each other up. The only issue I have with this is that it promotes bad habits and doesn't help new Eggblockers.

Onto my own opinion. I'd like to start by quickly mentioning Teq. Since we are taking more time fighting Teq we have lost a lot of time we used to have organising the Wurm. Many guilds kill Teq quicker by using the 1 stack (melee) setup. I know it's been mentioned that it's hard for squishier classes to survive, but it is the best strategy out there for fighting Teq and if we perfected this we could gain back the time we used to have for Wurm. Having said that the next update should make all of Teq's hitboxes critable (so this might not be an issue for long).

Now about the Wurm, I believe the overall issue is that we don't deal enough damage, so the question is, how do we deal more/max damage?
  • Everyone should run the Meta build for their class (Weapons, Armor, Traits and Skills) - Obviously there's no way we can enforce this, especially not with random players.
  • Everyone should know how/when to blast fire fields - Commanders currently explain fire fields during the dry runs. The issue though is that not everyone is on TS and even if they were, we can't guarantee that they are listening or understanding everything. And even if they did know how/when to blast fire fields, we can't ensure that they do it during the event.
  • Warriors should bring banners (Stength and Discipline) - Similarly, we can't ensure every Warrior brings banners or uses them at the right time/correctly (outer edges of fire fields/outside the stack).
  • Elementalists should bring conjure weapons - Same as above, we can't ensure every Elementalist brings conjure weapons, uses them at the right time, or if people are using them correctly (people could be spamming all the skills on the weapons).
  • Mesmers should bring Time Warp - Same as above, we can't ensure every Mesmer brings Time Warp or uses them at the right time (after blasting fire fields).
The point I'm trying to make is that damage output is somewhat out of our control. The best we can do is make sure all our members are dealing the most damage they can and hope that, combined with the random players joining us, we do enough to cross the threshold between success and failure.

Due to its current unintended behavior, the Grenadier trait has been temporarily disabled until the next scheduled release. If you were using this trait, we suggest you select a different one until the trait is re-enabled.

Grenadier has been temporarily disabled now as well.

Just thought I'd link all the pictures that were shared on Facebook for those that don't use Facebook.
Enjoy and despair!
