How Does It Work?

You simply sign up by 20th December in this thread.

Please include the following information:
Your account name (the one with the numbers at the end).
What your ideal gift would be - Missed an old festival reward and never got around to buying it on the tp? Need one last item for a collection? Do you like... quaggan tonics? Coo! If nothing is taking your fancy, explain a bit what your interests are in-game to give your Santa ideas.


After the closing date you'll be told who your match is; then you can check back here to see what they've wished for and you have until 1st January to send them their gift! If you wish to remain anonymous you can send the gift over to me, with a message if you like, and I will pass it along whilst keeping your identity a secret

I will recommend that you aim for your gifts to have a value of at least 5g. It's not all about the monetary value of the presents, of course, but we'd like everyone to feel they can take part regardless of how much they play and also retain a certain minimum worth. You are naturally welcome to exceed this.

If it so happens that you don't receive your gift, there will be provision for this so don't worry; if things don't work out with your Santa you will still get some shinies, as long as you sent yours.

So as I mentioned in last month's thread, it was awesome how many of you threw your proverbial hats in for this and it should definitely be able to be a regular thing, perhaps with some seasonal variations. For this month I'd ideally just like to increase the number of winners so more people can have shiny things :3 Aiming for 5 prizes this time! The rules will also be the same for now; one entry per person and sent before reset at the end of the month to be eligible. I'll also try and respond to each entry to confirm it's been received, since a few of you wondered about this. Bear in mind the messaging limit though and don't worry if I don't get back to you immediately ^^

It should probably be pointed out, as I think was done in the other thread, that the group that was raiding when these posts were originally made doesn't meet anymore. Obviously plenty of people raid and it's fine to use these to find each other but it's no longer any kind of official sign-up.

Now that's out of the way:

Ehhh, we'd been discussing this in game the other day, the reason I'm sticking with Carrion is because of how much damage I'm getting out of it. I use the Superior Rune of the Necromancer with it, I know Viper and Sinister are good options as well, I just don't want to go tweaking around a build that has worked so well for me thus far. "If it isn't broke, don't fix it." haha. I really do appreciate the advice, and if I happen upon any Viper/Sinister Exotics as drops I'll keep hold and switch them out and try it as a comparison and see how I like it, but having put gold into one build it would be a bit of a blow to change it up now, when what I have doesn't do badly at all anyways. So I'll keep it in mind and try it out as the chance arises, but unless it makes a really huge difference I'll probably stick with this build. If that makes sense?

You didn't really give an indication of being interested in raiding with your gear, at least during the bits of the discussion I saw So this gets tricky. It's already been outlined why viper's/sinister is superior so I won't bang on about that. But you really do need to bring the best you can bring to a raid. For anything else, yes, run whatever you please and enjoy it!

I have to agree with red. Since necro is the most tanky class in the game it would a waste to use carrion.

There's an argument to be made for building vitality on a power Reaper - you can take some/all valkyrie gear and still crit cap because of traits (exact setup potentially dependent on party buffs - if anyone's interested in this I'm happy to explain in detail in game ^^) and get your extra shroud duration. However this is moot in this discussion for a couple of reasons, namely that there is very little reason to take power gear on a necro to raids when the condi build is so damn great, and that staying in shroud for extended periods of time isn't really a part of the rotation so there's no need for it.

Agreed that a bit of time in between is needed - I didn't join you as I needed to grab lunch. But it needn't be a long break and especially if you start with a good chunk of events people can filter in gradually sounded like Ardi was a super speedy CF commander!

To clear up a couple of points: lottery draw will indeed now be on the 13th and I've edited accordingly. The MotD listed them both for this day so I didn't want anyone who'd only seen that to be left out more time to enter!

can we have that in the top post as atm its confuseing given no char is listed to mail anything to under the Linseed lottery.

Edit: Ah sorry I see a mention of it is there now though an exact name would be helpfull.
