Triple Trouble Wurm / Re: A bit on champion husks
« on: September 27, 2014, 12:32:47 PM »
No touching is an essential rule, but I do not think it solves the problem of husks on dps stack entirely. I’m not sure how the aggro works in their case, but they do not focus solely on those players who deal damage. I’ve seen many situations when they just ignore condis and try to get to the spot where most of the players are gathered, without being hit by anybody out of the condition team.
Maybe it’s because of the distance – we rarely fight them in meele range, maybe it’s because we’re usually medium and light classes, and even in our rabid armors a tough warrior running by is more attractive :). I would not be surprised if it was some special Anet mechanics going on “try and get where most players are and screw up what they’re doing”.

Triple Trouble Wurm / A bit on champion husks
« on: September 26, 2014, 06:58:37 PM »
Champion Partially Digested Husks (fought by the condition team) are Unshakable mobs, which means that hard crowd control (cc) effects (the ones that interrupt you and disable your skill bar like fear, knockdown, knockback, daze, pull, launch or stun) grant them Defiance stacks. Hard cc will work the first time you hit the Husk with it, but after that the next one will fail and instead strip one stack of Defiance. The mob will be vulnerable to a hard cc again after all the defiance stacks are stripped. How many stacks a Husk gets, depends on the number of people around it (watch what happens to the one we kill during the escort events).

This has at least two consequences, which are important for Wurm fights. First, when you stack for dpsing, or holding kegs on Cobalt, or waiting to get swallowed on Amber, and you try to fear a Husks that comes near you – the fear might not work (you’ll be stripping defiance instead of shooing it away). This is exactly the reason why commanders (apart from asking you to fear the mob) suggest equipping and using stability. If you get hit by a champ, you lose a keg, attractant buff or phytotoxin colour and you’re not able to help with taking off the Wurm’s Slick Skin buff. I think it hurts the most on Amber. Stability is important.
Second, unless you’re a part of condi team or your commander is asking to fear husks, it’s vital that you do not attack husks at all. If you hit the mob with hard cc at the wrong moment, it can gain a ridiculous amount of defiance making it a lot harder to control for condis.

Fun fact – soft ccs: cripple, chill, immobilize – work fine on Unshakable mobs. So when on Amber you wait to get swallowed and see husk approaching, and you have some way to immobilize it from a distance, you can do it. Just be careful not to use soft ccs when champs are already on the stack :D
Apart from that, general rule for non-condis is: do not touch champion husks.

If I missed something feel free to add, especially condition people – if you have other experiences (I run mainly on Amber) chime in.

Would it be also possible for mesmers to block eggs with Phantasmal Warden?

Events / Re: Care and Handling of Trolls
« on: September 16, 2014, 11:25:10 PM »
I understand and completely agree with your appeal not to feed the trolls – ignore them on mapchat and report them if they’re abusive. I just do not think that a ranting idiot can ruin PSDH reputation. The guild is doing a fantastic job on Teq runs and getting better and better at Triple Trouble. No amount of badmouthing can change that. Trolls will be there no matter how good we get, and that is why we need a clear guide how to deal with them, but I feel they can’t hurt us.

Just wanted to say, I can’t remember when was the last time I had this much fun playing GW2  :) Heartfelt THANK YOU to the Commanders, and all the brilliant people who joined (ts) yesterday. Could we have another “serious attempt” scheduled (while doing the regular runs in the meantime)? Pretty please.
Again, a huge, huge thank you,
Hugs,
Ola

General Chat / Re: larger PSDH

During events, we sometimes bump into commanders that we successfully cooperate with. Maybe we could, after such a thing happens (by “we” I mean someone from “The Team” who’s present), try to whisper them and invite them/their guilds to join PSDH? I think personal, direct contact can work quite well. I agree that the best PSDH advertisement is when we do stuff well.

(Stormwolf, Wednesday’s Amber was not a “total fail”  :) Diboofers did their job, condis did theirs. For couple of us it was quite a good training. True, there were people running around like headless chickens, not knowing what to do with a harpoon, but it’s the hardest head and we chewed at it. BTW, did we use mapchat to explain what people are supposed to be doing on Amber? The one problem with ts is that, there will always be someone not there and participating in the event. During Triple Trouble it’s enough for a handful of people, who don’t know what they’re doing, to mess things up for all of us.)

Introduce Yourself! / Re: hey all

How could you say anything like that – asura girls are the sweetest, cutest things ever! And I’m so glad that the armor is unisex. Can you imagine – asura female with big boobs :/ The fact that they (and charr) are not overly sexualized is something I really enjoy in game.
And I would trade armor details for ease in jumping every time!

What bums me most at the moment is not the fact that we do not have enough people (on ts), but that it seems like we’re losing faith and drive to kill the wurm. And it’s a kind of vicious circle – we see that there are few of us on ts so we don’t join, and that makes us fewer. At least it’s how I understand it.

We can’t count on people joining us for the rewards – there won’t be many of those at least now, when we’re all still somewhat in training (we’re yet to see phase 2 of the fight together), so what could work, in my opinion, is committing because somebody we like and care for has asked us to. What I mean is – rallying guildmates. I was wondering if it wouldn’t be a good idea to get the leaders/generals of guilds that form PSDH involved more in advertising the project (Dark and Stormwolf can’t do it alone). I’m hesitant to suggest this because it feels like laying the responsibility on somebody else, and it’s against bottom-up initiative, but I suspect that if some DKAL guild member with authority told DKAL “boys and girls, we’re killing wurm this evening” it would have an immensely greater impact than if it was suggested by a newbie. (By the way, I’m sure that DKAL alone has enough people to take down at least one of the heads  ;) )

I’m also not sure if holiday period is not a part of the small ts numbers issue (I talk about committing and showing up, yet I know I will probably be of Internet for last two weeks of August :( ).

Hugs, Ola

Triple Trouble Wurm / Re: Wurm's Diboof Spot

I think that the new method is riskier than Swirling Winds one. As I understand, you have a lot more leeway with the latter. As Kaelik has said before, especially with Amber that sometimes spits eggs right after the burn phase, when you cannot really see well where you’re standing because of the zerg, aiming is difficult. And I think preventing eggs from spawning is more important than blocking husks. Condis can kill/control husks quite well, but we’re not nearly as effective with eggs/grubs. That’s why, I would promote Swirling Winds. And yes, I don’t want condis to go out of business ;)
