Events / Upcoming Events - Hide & Seek plus Lottery!
« on: March 01, 2016, 06:51:25 PM »
Hide & Seek

Hello all. Next Sunday, 13th March, we'll be holding a Hide & Seek event in our lovely guild hall, and I hope you'll be able to join us!

In short, there will be a few members hiding in sneaky places around the hall (not repping so you can't just spy them on the map, and of course you do need to turn off character names for this to work most effectively. We assume in good faith that you'll do that... you're all nice, trustworthy people, right? ;) ). The first to find each hidden person will then have their pick from a small selection of prizes including a Black Lion Key and globs of ectoplasm. Watch this space :)

If you'd like to volunteer to squirrel yourself away somewhere, just sign up in this thread or message me: flamboroughpilot.5602 / Anoussja / whichever nonsense character name you feel like trying to spell; and we'll get you organised sometime before the start.

This will kick off around 3pm CET (2pm GMT), after that day's Tequatl and Triple Trouble and a short break, so we'll look forward to seeing you (or maybe not seeing you, if you're very well hidden) then :D

In the meantime:

Linseed Lottery

This one's pretty simple :3 if you'd like to enter just send one vial of linseed oil - or the requisite materials if you're unable to craft it and I will sort that for you - and you'll be in the draw to win 5 back. All the rest of the oil received will go towards more shiny guild hall upgrades, and if uptake is good the prize will be more substantial and/or there will be multiple winners. Also, if you make such a donation to the treasury and wish it to count as a lottery entry, just send me a quick message and it will be noted :)

Send mail to: flamboroughpilot.5602

Entry is open as of right now and the draw will be made during downtime prior to Teq and TT on Wednesday 9th March, subject to change and everyone getting organised of course! on the 13th along with the Hide & Seek :) of course you don't need to be present to win the lottery so do enter even if you're not around that day! Oh, and leave the innuendo to Dark and Nova please... ^^

Thanks for reading and please don't feel shy about getting involved <3

Additionally, if you have any ideas for events or particular things you'd like to see, please let me know as I'll be working on regular fun interludes and would ideally like them to reflect what you guys enjoy :)

What do you guys think about Aetherblade Path of the Twilight Arbor?
Personally, I lack two achievements and I cannot find the right team.
I am sure there are many members who would like to have it done :)

I'd be up for that anytime; I'm one short and really fed up of seeing it on my Nearly Completed xD

Dark, you forgot Nendagor in the list :)

So we're 9/10 ^^

Didn't add me or Barzhul either from the first page :o so in theory we're good?

Additionally I could also bring chrono if we end up with enough condi and/or no mesmers (rare occurrence though that has been) - don't have a full set of ascended weaps however :/ So updated list if it helps:

Character: Yaëlan Tenderra
Profession: Reaper
Task: Condi or DPS (w/ boon strip of course!)
Gear: Condi: Ascended viper/sinister mix; DPS: Ascended berserker/valkyrie mix.

Character: Anoussja
Profession: Guardian
Task: DPS
Gear: Ascended berserker.

Character: Hetta Ætherholm
Profession: Warrior
Task: DPS (running phalanx strength)
Gear: Ascended berserker.

Character: Cygnatyr
Profession: Chronomancer
Task: DPS (+ boon strip)
Gear: Exotic assassin's armour, ascended berserker trinkets, mix of the two for weapons.

Thank you lovely people! (And I have not forgotten you Gem don't worry ^^ ) If anyone else is interested, I'll do the matchmaking on Saturday evening, so don't worry about the date and put your name down today so I can include you :) I'll try and remind everyone during events too!

Fair enough, it's just that burning is the most damaging condition after fear, and it'd be a real shame to not have it in. I like running Blood Magic, it's the first trait I have penned in. Death Magic though... just for the minions? I used to run it as insurance before HoT hit, and after that I found that it wasn't really needed anymore.

Also something I forgot to mention: Corrosive Poison Cloud could be pretty good here for the initial burst, RS4 in a poison field gives you a huge stack to start with. And if you're in a mob, Epidemic would supplement it well...

"Could be pretty good"... well... yes... it is the staple of your rotation and you want to be using it off cooldown xD In a non-minion build at least.

As for Death Magic, well you can see what those minions do, and in some situations it would out-DPS the burning you can stack which was my point. You still need Curses and Reaper, so if you want Blood Magic there's your build: no SR.

The only time you unequivocally want SR (and by extension Dhuumfire) is: If you're solo'ing (or just random open-world stuff, whatever, then you choose what you like), or if you're in group content with another necro/reaper already running Blood Magic. Even on a condi build, running BM for your team can be a very noticeable DPS increase, not to mention the fantastic support and utility. Following on, if your team can forgo that then running a build utilising minions is clearly a worthwhile variant. You might well hate it, but it's obviously effective and yet another good option for conditionmancers. Plus, yes, you don't want to camp shroud. Meh, run SR if you like but don't rule out other possibilities :)

Also, "fire > poison" is quite a reductive statement. I know I know, everybody's all hot for burning damage (haw haw) right now, but that doesn't mean it will always be a DPS increase for a condi Reaper to add burning to their arsenal despite its highest-damage ticks. Especially as on a lot of condi builds you don't take Reaper's Onslaught, the burning you stack is thus slower and little enough to potentially be bested by other sources of damage that will synergise with an entirely different traitline.

General Chat / Re: 'Tis the time for festivities (SOON™)

I can yes, but I think we need to set a minimum and maximum of gold value that goes into the raffle -- I'd like people to not get something worth only a copper, but at the same time throwing in a Greatsaw skin is probably far too much as well.

Well sure :) feel free to arrange as you see fit. Got any figures in mind?

Aforementioned guardian here... Welp, there goes my draft I guess xD

I'm aware of the reddit Toymaker exchanges, it would be nice also to do a small one just for the guild though - and nothing to stop people getting involved with both, what fun!

Basically, when I've run this sort of thing for forum-using communities in the past, it works well to have everyone who wishes to take part sign up either by posting in a thread or PM'ing the organiser with just a few details: in this case, your in-game name and some notes about yourself and the things you might be interested in receiving. After a certain cut-off date everyone would then be 'matched' - which I should still have a document for doing, somewhere! - anonymously and the details provided will be passed on to each person's respective match (2 people wouldn't be just paired with each other, a chain/round system is better). Then, when you know whom your recipient is and what they want, you can either send the gift directly to them, or to me to pass on if you'd prefer to retain the anonymous element :D and that would just need to be done by a second cut-off date, which might be best to have be after Christmas itself to accomodate for people's fluctuating schedules around that time. Finally, you can post about what you were gifted and ~share the love~!

In case of any gifts not received there would also be a back-up plan, so no worries about someone flaking out on you; as long as you did your part, you'll have something :) though honestly I suspect this wouldn't be much of an issue in PSDH. Just in case, after the second cut-off date would be the time say "hey, I didn't get mah stuffs" and it will be looked into ;)

Additionally, whilst it obviously isn't all about the gold worth of the items, it sometimes helps to make a recommendation regarding how much one might consider spending. In this case, I'd suggest aiming for your gifts to have a value of 5g or more. This also doesn't need to be what you spend since they could of course come from resources you already have ^_^ but it's by no means a hard limit and you can obviously feel free to go as much above that as you like. The idea is more to pitch a figure that can cover a meaningful amount of stuff without excluding anymore with more limited funds (on which note, if you want to take part but are struggling with gold/mats for whatever reason, let me know and we'll figure something out).

***

This is a pretty good time for this all to get rolling so, let's go for this: if you'd like to take part, please sign up by Thursday 17th of December. Include some way of contacting you in-game, so your account and/or a character name, and a few ideas about what might be a good gift for you (Had your eyes on a pricey sigil or two? Missed an old festival reward and never got around to buying it on the tp? Need one last item for a collection? Do you like... quaggan tonics? Coo!). This can just be done on these forums so I've made a thread over here http://psdh.eu/index.php?topic=1160 to keep everything tidy, or, if you'd prefer, messaged to me - Anoussja / flamboroughpilot.5602

Once you know the details of your giftee (I'll try and sort the matches speedily, by that weekend, say) please ensure you send to them, directly or via me, by Thursday 31st of December. New Year's Eve, easy to remember! Any issues can be resolved then, but I'm sure most of the results will be 'Yay, look at this awesome gift!' :3

We should do a raffle as well, it doesn't have the personal element that matched gifting has but could be a really nice option for people who don't necessarily have time to commit to the whole process. Shal can you organise that? :D

I think TD need to be a "real" organized event not just a random vote on thursday because we need many player for this.

Completely agree. We probably should have at least 10 of us in each lane (if not quite a few more), since it's important not only to get the pre-events done earlier in the meta but to have a reliable group at the boss, and if we want to really have a proper try at it as a guild then putting it on the schedule should get the numbers we need :3
